The new WBT-0703 nextgen™ pole terminal preserve valuable resources of non-ferrous metals and conduct signals and sounds – not however, rather exactly for this reason - better than any other before them.

With the new WBT-0703 nextgen™ pole terminal, we have succeeded in offering the standard-bearing nextgen™ technology at an extremely attractive price. The new model is nextgen™ through and through and therefore provide faithful signal transfer and an authentic sound experience.

The signal conductor of the WBT-0703 nextgen™ pole terminal is restricted to as low metal mass as possible consisting of pure copper. This does not simply preserve valuable resources, but also eliminates losses in sound quality owing to the mass storage effect. This effect is unavoidable with larger metal masses and has a measurable influence on signal flow. The innovative geometry of the conductors in the nextgen™ pole terminals also prevents eddy currents effectively which can affect the purity of the signal. Eddy currents occur in the form of nonlinear distortion and cannot be corrected.

But the innovations by no means stop here. The form of the signal conductor doesn‘t just act again the mass storage effect and eddy currents, it has also been optimised over the course of complex tests and calculations so that the new nextgen™ pole terminal is significantly more resistant than conventional models to microvibrations through structureborne sound.
This means that nextgen™ pole terminals offer an unrivalled level of transfer safety and, in conjunction with the WBT-0718 nextgen™ impact sound interrupter, define the boundaries of what is technically possible.

Another innovation is the moment of force indicator integrated into the pole terminals. This provides an acoustic signal when there is sufficient contact pressure to the sandwich spades. It is a popular misconception that signal transfer is only at its optimum level if the maximum possible contact pressure is exerted on the contact surfaces. If these surfaces are pressed against each other too tightly, parts of the surfaces can be damaged beyond repair.

That being said, nextgen™ pole terminals give you a free choice as to contact pressure. Alongside the signal conductor, another decisive factors for the quality and long lifespan of the nextgen™ pole terminals is the interaction between the different materials.

In terms of robustness, nextgen™ pole terminals don‘t play second fiddle to classic metal models – in fact, they are far superior.

The conventional “classic” connectors are almost always made of brass or brass
sheet. They certainly fulfill their tasks, however not precisely enough.

- The massive connector body works unavoidably as a mass storage,
i.e. it creates a kind of “capacitor effect” and the greater and heavier the terminal, the greater the eddy current.
Both problems create clearly audible distortions of a non-linear kind and are as is generally known non-correctable. Those who attach great importance to “high-end” will have to deal with solving this problem.

This is why WBT nextgen™ is different: Whereas brass is – independently of its
copper rate – first of all an all-purpose material performing ordinary functions, nextgen™ is composed of only functional materials:


For current/signal transmission a pure, soft copper is used – material which is excellent not only in electrical conducting, but can also be exactly dosed with the right production process. The metal mass could be reduced by approx. 90%, however with the disadvantage of mechanical stability.

But there is also the power of the hybrid construction.

The injection molding with high tech plastic generates not only a plug body with its mechanics, but also stability of the “soft” signal conductors in a hybrid composition of highly specialized functional materials.

WBT binding posts

A binding post from WBT is truly a functional work of art and a symbol of quality. It is no wonder WBT binding posts are found as OEM parts on some of the world's finest audio equipment. WBT binding posts are a true five-way design and will accept 6mm (1/4") or 8mm (5/16") spades, 4mm bananas, bare wire or wire prepared with a WBT crimp sleeve (up to 6mm [10 AWG]). The two-piece tightening nut feature ensures secure attachment of spades without a wrench. In addition, the posts offer dual termination, solder or WBT crimp technique termination (torx screw has to be ordered separately) to suit your needs. WBT binding posts are available in economy, midline and topline versions to fit every budget. WBT binding posts can be mounted in panels a minimum of .8mm (1/32") thick and a maximum of 10mm (1/2") thick with the proper mounting insulation. To accommodate thicker panels, incorporate the WBT-0716 deep panel mounting kit.

The Nextgen Signature Series

WBT-0710 NextGen Signature Series is brand-spanking new. WBT Nextgen stands for a new generation of connectors in which the strict separation of signal transmission and mechanical stability has permitted the use of the most ideal materials. Pure copper and/or fine silver are the best known electrical conductors for signal transmission. However, due to their mechanical limitations their use has only now been made possible through their ingenious combination with high performance plastics. The core of the new WBT-0710 binding post is not only made from pure copper or fine silver but it is also designed from one piece so that all unnecessary transition resistance is omitted. The signal conductor is embedded in a matrix of glass fibre and mineral strengthened plastic and strain relief is achieved by means of a non-magnetic stainless steel strut. The clever angular alignment of the signal conductor allows the secure fitting of spades, banana plugs and crimped cable ends. A damping ring made from elastomer prevents vibration at the contact level. On this basis, the construction is electrically insulated from the start. Design elements out of brass give the WBT-0710 binding post the expected appearance and feel of WBT products, without impairing the electrical safety. In this way, the WBT-0710 nextgen conforms to all current norms and safety regulations. With a 30 amp continuous and a 500 amp power impulse current capability all concerns are satisfied. The WBT-0710 Nextgen provides the theoretically maximum possible conductivity with the mechanical quality to be expected from WBT.
